Burkhalter Travel is seeking a Leisure Travel Advisor to join our company. We are looking for a creative, well-organized, willing-to-learn Leisure Travel Advisor. In this role, you work closely with clients to create exciting, fun and impactful travel experiences for different requests from leisure/vacation travelers, from river cruises in Europe to all-inclusive trips to Mexico and everything in between. We are seeking a highly motivated person that is dedicated to providing world-class customer service and displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In this dynamic position, you will:
- Research, book and leverage quality preferred vendor and destination leaders to ensure an exceptional travel experience for our clientele.
- Ensure a high-level of customer service by promptly responding to and resolving customer requests as well as anticipating issues and immediately identify solutions to avoid customer service issues.
- Maintain strong and current knowledge of travel destinations and our preferred vendors product offerings, including air, hotel, tour, cruise, car and travel insurance.
- Proactively build a clientele of new and repeat clients to meet or exceed sales production goals.
Ideal experience and talent
- Two plus years of event planning, meetings, hospitality and/or travel arranging experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a manner that can be easily understood by others; ability to write creative content is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build relationships.
- Adaptable self-starter, who is organized and able to effectively prioritize request in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, with a focus on attention to detail.
- Aptitude and ability to learn and familiarize yourself with travel industry processes and terminology as well as with new and ever-changing technology.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Familiarity with a CRM tool such as ClientBase is a plus
This position will be located at our office on the west side of Madison, WI but we’re open to highly qualified candidates interested in our branches as well (East Madison, Stoughton, Fitchburg, Dubuque, Prairie du Sac, Baraboo). Open to remote work but some time in office will occur.
A love for travel is a must - you'll be researching and learning about new destinations! Schedule is generally Monday - Friday, with flexibility for right candidate.
